After reading the "Air Filters" chapter of this ponderous article

more than thousand page long, I am become convinced that my pancake Air Filters aren't the better solution for my AH 100/6
The first choice was K&N but I never found one good solution, ready for my twin SU 1"3/4
so look around I have find a Sponge Cone Filter ready to fit to my car It is present on AHspares catalogue - but can be ordered directly from

(SU HS6 1.75 must be specified)
They fit perfectly in the restricted space of my AH, BUT remember first begin from the forward carburetor,
that are so strictly that I have prefered to saw the upper part of the top Aluminium (just 15mm) -underside you find soft rubber end - welded to the
sponge so the integrity is safe
The rear AF haven't problem.

I have the twin itg air filter from Denis Welch. It has an open-cell foam filter element over a wire mesh supporting screen. Like the K&N, it uses an oil to make the foam sticky. Seems to work great and is easier to service than the originals.

After reading David Vizard's great book on Tuning the A Series Engine, I am convinced of the performance benefit of velocity stacks, even short ones. Do these air filters allow space to add velocity stacks?

If you use velocity stacks all you need to to is wire some foam on the ends.

The itg filter can accommodate the very short (up to ~1") ones.

I have one long road test with the new AirFilters and the car appear to be more responsive and with more power -
also the fuel beverage appear decreased
BUT this is only a personal impression -
I have NOT the instruments for a serious test, sure the filters surfaces, in square cm, are more than doubled in respect to the oldest AF,
and avoided the resonance problems, due to the thin space of filtration (reported on the MGB article)

For people that wont the old classic stile AFilters - but with improved air filtration, I can suggest this site, where is sell the pieces of AirFilter foam material

the only system to open the oldest pancake AF, appear to me the removal of the metal mesh

the structure of this PC AF are the same, at the interior we find a steel mesh covered by the open cell foam (K&N use 3 layer of cotton ??!)
