T-Series any MGTD's with custom bodies out there?

I'm in the process of doing something foolish (again).
Of course its car related. I'm buying an MGTD rolling
chassis. No engine/trans, radiator or shell, etc. There
is a body tub and doors, but its VERY rough. Almost to
the point of being unrestorable.

Has anyone built a custom body on an MGTD/TF frame?
I've got visions of building this up as a vintage racer
of sorts.

I have seen pics of these that were similar to the
Model T speedsters, but of course can't find them now.
If anyone has done something like this, I'd like to
hear from you.

I do have a complete, original MGTD, so I am familiar
with the beast.

The Ford Speedsters are here:

And some custom bodied MGs can be viewed here:

Good luck with your project.
I am building a Special styled somewhat like an Austin Seven Brooklands or a Bugatti T-35. Presently, I have a rolling chassis with 1275 Sprite engine and trans in place. It's a long-term deal and I'll likely work more on it after retirement.

Interesting site. I have a 4 cylinder 1932 Model B Ford Crager racing engine in the barn that I've had for 30 years and have been looking for a race car of that era to put it in. It came out of a 1938 dirt track sprint car that was totaled. It's unique, as the block was bought new from Ford in 38 and modified for racing, with overhead valves and all. The block is not serial numbered as the boss was never stamped. New blocks came that way back then. Someday, maybe?? PJ

Ohhh a Crager. What a joy, hang on to that and protect it properly. You know oil in the cylinders and such.

Jack, you know how many people have never heard of a Crager race engine! Most people think Crager only ever made wheels. I don't know if there's any association between the two company's or not. It would be interesting to find out. I also have a 1940 Ford 60 V8 Offenhouser conversion out of a midgit race car of the 50s era. I'll bet there's a lot of guys that hasn't a clue what a Ford 60 is either. Geesh I'm gettin old. PJ

I think Crager also made an overhead conversion for that V60 or was that Offenhouser. Durn I just don't remember.

I had a 40 Ford convert when I was 15 that had an Isky cam, twin Stromberg 97's, pipes, Malary Mag, and Isky heads. It had three ring 3 5/8th pistons and a canadian crank of some sort that was 3 5/8 throw as well. Think I remember the block as being an 8BA truck block. In any case the 49 fords had no chance. Would smoke em with ease.

Oh the days long gone.

Wow, your taking me back a couple of years Jack. Stromberg 97s, Canadian crank, I haven't heard those words mentioned for years. Probably some guys will say, What's a Canadian crank? Ha, Ha, Oh my, we could talk for hours. Wrong place though. What a shame. One thing for sure, it's nice to know that there's someone out there as old as me. haha. PJ

Paul, we could. Those were some good days. Parts almost free as folks going to V8s and girls young and .......

Sure wish I had that Ford. Was a real go getter.
