Been installing parts for the efi conversion for the last few weeks. The fuel lines came while I was away last week, so I put them in yesterday morning.

I'm about 10 connections away from firing it up, but I'm still waiting for a couple of the connectors I need.

Just for fun (and with a great deal of trepidation) I ran the fuel pump for the first time today. Set the pressure on the regulator to 43psi and she runs just fine, albeit a little noisier than I expected.

No leaks (phew).

Now I'm getting excited again. I want to hear it idle before March at the very least..

It's good to "hear" the enthusiasm in your post, Alan. I look forward to seeing how you fare with the startup.

Alana- can you describe the fuel line set up?

Sounds like you and Dale are finally headed down the end of the tunnel. Now if we could get Bill's engine back in, the coming spring would seem to be a bit brighter.

Alan, have you put rubber mounts in for the fuel pump to help isolate the sound a bit? Otherwise, lets hope the exhaust sound will drown out the fuel pump drone a bit. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I can, but I'm not sure how useful it'll be for you, as it's all custom. Here goes anyway:

The tank is a custom 15 gallon stainless steel job, baffled with twin takeoffs at the rear. It gravity feeds two -8AN lines to a T which combines them to a single -8AN line into the pump and filter arrangement that's in the spare tire footwell. There are two filters, one 10 micron before the pump, one 100 micron after. The output from the second filter is -6AN braided, and goes to a through bulkhead fitting that takes you to the underside of the car.
3/8" hard line runs along the drivers side chassis member to the underside of the bulkhead, where I swap for -6AN flex hose again to go round the chassis engine support, and up to the manifold - roughly where the engine mount is on the passenger side.

The return from the fuel rail goes to the regulator - mounted next to the washer bottle, and then back down through that handy body hole to the chassis - routed back along the passenger side, using 3/8" hard line again, to a bulkhead fitting in the trunk floor (on the passenger side this time) that feeds yet more braided flex line to the return fitting at the top of the tank.

I have some (outdated pics) on https://www.triumphowners.com/742 if you want to get the general idea. It shows the tank and the manifold at least. The lines at the front have been replaced with custom ones that fit much better, and the tank has had a petcock added. I'll try to post some more when I get the chance.

Hope that helps!

I found the connections I needed at my local hardware store, so the O2 sensor is in and she's ready to go. Of course being an idiot, I tried to crank her over. Nada, Zip, Zilch. Totally muerte. No connection to the ECU either.

Much disappointment on my part - alleviated only when I noticed that I hadn't fitted the fuses to the relay board.

It's too late to go get any now, and I'm feeling rather foolish, but at least I am still hopeful! I'll try again at the weekend...

A quick update for those who have the stomach to listen to this saga - the cable connecting the ECU and the relay board is bad, so I'm waiting for a replacement.

That aside, I did get it to run for a princely 4 seconds on FI before it cut out. That's more than it's run since Xmas!

Now I'm really hopeful...

Congrats Alana!!

You got me beat by 4 seconds.
Ain't it just garnd sitting around
waiting for parts?

Post some photos!!

Alan, My next big hurdle after the wiring is done(almost there.Whey!)is the fuel lines. I have been thinking the same as you where to run the lines. Was planning to cross over at the cross member too. I notice you used 3/8s for the fuelas it is FI I guess it needs bigger and strong er lines. I was planning on running 5/16 for mine. How did you join the line and the AN fittings. If you can I would like some underneath photos @croosmember connection and how you brought it up to the intake. Very nice I am impressed. I hope mine will look half as nice.
By the way.SPARE???

Summit sell hardline to AN adapters. Make sure you get the ones with the compression nipple inside I'll post pics in a minute.

Ok, here are 3 poor shots of the connections, and the routing. It's dark and cold out there, so I'm not hanging around, but you get the idea.

The wiring is a work in progress, so don't let it distract you...
