Some of you know (many of you newbies don't) that I've been a volunteer with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) for over 15 years. I've been a NAMI Family program teacher, sat on the states board of directors and served as the state program director for several years.
NAMI is the largest grass-roots (volunteer) organization in the country that advocates for individuals living with mental health conditions and their families. Every year, we hold an annual "NAMI Walks" fundraiser to help us pay for the many free education and support programs that NAMI conducts.
A few weeks ago, I posted a banner at the top of the site, with a link to a message asking BCF members to consider supporting this effort. With all the stuff going on with COVID, and mandates and lockdowns, mental health services are more important that ever as we've seen suicide rates dramatically increase. As of this posting, I have only had one donation after several weeks of having the banner up.
My plea: I understand we all can't donate to every cause, especially in the current economic climate, but if you can, I would greatly appreciate if you would click the banner at the top of the site and make a small donation to support NAMI's important work. Any and all amounts are greatly appreciated. It all adds up.
Sincerely,
Basil
