when pigs fly - IMHO!

ditto... just 'cxause it MAKES NO SENSE!

EDIT: Tha's Chinese, y'see.

I'll believe THAT when I see it. Nice thought, but in the Immortal words of Spock. "Highly illogical captain."

I think I'm the only person who wishes they would just let the brand die. I don't want new fake MGs in the US.

M.G. is dead. Long live MG!

it's just the date for the beginning of production ... doesn't say where... I'd guess production in China. I doubt any of those cars will make it to US shores before the end of the year.

Not only that but the date of that article seems a bit oldish... 9/14/2006. Some of the more recent articles I've been skimming don't seem to be as optimistic.

Will they sell them at 'Big Box Retailers' in the housewares aisle?
"I need a price check on a bag of goldfish, box of shake n bake, toothpicks and an MGTF"

I'm really surprised Wally world doesn't sell cars.

My...we're a bit of a cynical bunch, aren't we?!

Actually, the Chinese have decided to make M.G. stand for "Modern Gentleman" in order to raise the opinion of thier cars in China. Cecil Kimber would be on a rampage about now.

You're not alone Steve. MG, Triumph ,Austin Healey all are fond memories that I feel are better left that way. Building a new version is just like painting over a Rembrant.
Just leave it lie and move on. Mazda got it right with the Miata.
As a mechanic, I'm dreading the day all these cheap-0 Chinese junkers flood the market. It ain't gonna be good. And I pray they dont drag MG or Rover in with them.

but, then, once-upon-a-time they laughed at the Beetle and the Japanese...

Yea! and just Look what Japaneese beetles have done to the foliage around here /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

How can they begine production in three months when we have no clue what it will even look like or cost, etc etc.

The TF has been in production in Europe for a wee while, I just assume they have duplicated/transported all the machinery and robotics to an old tractor factory and they will no doubt produce these quickly at first.

Yes... they're just gonna redo the 10+ year old MG TF. It won't win any styling points with the press - that's fer sure.

....to met US safety requirements - by March 27th!

I wonder how much... seems like it would be a $30k or higher car by the time they ship 'em over.
