988 Miles and not ONE LBC..

Took the B out this weekend to visit the family in KY, the car performed flawlessly and averaged 27.5 mpg (has OD). During the trip, the weather was great but I did not see one LBC, or even one American classic ( did not count the 57 Chevy on the trailer). Didn't even see one for sale! Oh well..just excited to have made the trip there and back with NO "tech" sessions along the way.

Congratulations on the trouble-free trip. The fact that you didn't spot any LBCs is unusual...thought they would all have been out in force given the weather over the midwest lately.

On my race-trip to Ontario this week (also about 1000 miles), I saw one MGB (top up) and an XJ-6 (being winched onto a roll-back tow truck on the side of Rt. 80).
I also saw several new MINIs and Ford-built Jaguars, but that's no big deal.
We saw a number of LBCs at the track, of course.

Well, you're gonna see a strange '79 Vermillion Red MG pull up in your driveway around May 4th!

On the way to Memphis last Friday for the first-annual-whatever-it-was at Tom's place, there was a TR3A on a trailer, heading toward Nashville. Other than that, no LBC's until Elvis-town.

I must say, Janet and I were in our Montero - the MGB is in a thousand pieces and the TR3 is not interstate-friendly, especially in 96 degree weather.

I'm looking forward to it Tony! May is for mushrooms. Maybe we can cruise into the mountains and look for some.
What's the issue with Crown tops, or is that something we should discuss in private?

We can discuss in private but basically it came down to: (1) quality went downhill (I had more returns than I could forward to customers) & (2) they got so far behind with production that they couldn't deliver an MGB top for over 2 months (factory was that far behind because of quality issues!) Jon Stepro was a gentleman while we were trying to get a top out of the Ohio factory...so, I dropped my distributorship & picked up Robbins...I can still sell them cheaper than Moss but not much less!

I took a 3 mile drive around the neighborhood on sunday to dry out the just washed engine compartment and saw another B (parked), a TR7 and an old XKE (with the top up

Ya just never know when you will see the little devils

My oldest son and I took a top down trip from Memphis to Rockhill,SC and back. We took back roads the intire trip. The drive through the Smokies in Sept. was super. We had beautiful weather. It was a 1400 mile drive round trip, and I didn't even take a sparkplug wrench. The only problem was when we got into the higher elevations of the smokies the SU's started running lean and I had to pull the choke out to compensate. Once we started down hill they straighten out. We got a lot of thumbs up on the road. The beauty of back roads is seeing people's faces and enjoying the ride.

Today on my trip home from Memphis, I passed a TR7 on a trailer & an old AH on a trailer...one going into Madison, AL the other in opposite direction in Mississippi!
