'75 Midget curb weight

New board member here, greetings to all.

I am now the owner of a 1975 Midget, my late father's pride and joy. I have to move the car 370 miles from deep South Texas to Houston. While the car runs beautifully, South Texas is NOT the place to be testing a car's ability to run for an extended number of hours/miles.

Uhaul wants $350 to rent a car trailer down along the border due to so many of them getting stolen in that area. Yet I can rent a 17' moving truck for $162 and I know that the car would easily fit in it. It might even fit in the 14' truck or 6x12 trailer (for sure it would if I removed a bumper). What I don't know is the weight of the Midget.

Does anybody have a rough idea what the curb weight of a '75 Midget? Within 200 lbs at least.

Thanks

Dave Z.

about 1850 lbs.

another alternative is a car dolly (also available from U-Haul).

drive it, it'll hold up better than you will in south Texas with no a/c

aeronca are you sure its that? my door says max gross weight is 1850. and if my algebra serves me right, it totals out at about 1500

about 1850 lbs sounds right. That is about what my Spitfire weighs too.

Thanks for the replies. It is hard to get this info when the car and all the books are down there and I am up here.

As it turns out, though, my best friend's wife works for the Toyota/Lexus distibuter for the gulf states and they will bring my car up on a truck during one of their usually empty return trips.

Chuck, in a month or two, you will absolutely correct, the MG would hold up better driving in South Texas with no A/C. Dad kept it in great shape...the same can't quite be said for how I have kept myself.
