3rd Brake Light

Hello there,

does anybody have photos of an installed 3rd brake light on their Healey?

I seem to remember having read in a thread that there are magnetic 3rd brake lights available. Does anybody know where I can get one of these?

regards

Higgins

Hi Higgins, Try British Car Specialties in Stockton Ca. I think they stock a kit. Not sure this is the most economical approach though.---Fwiw--Keoke

I know you were considering magnet mount. If you would consider permanent mount I used the following:
https://www.julianos.com/3rd_brake_light.html

With the pedestal removed it mounts very close to the surface. Painted body color It blends in well with the car. It has very bright leds.

See the attached pic,

Hi Dave / All -

I ordered the same unit from Julianos but installed it slightly different to Dave's car. I fashioned a little bracket which uses one screw from the cockpit surround and it screws in to the cockpit surround's existing hole - no modifications necessary and can be removed literally in 30 seconds with a screwdriver. Works with the top up or down:

Thanks for the pics and ideas.

Before I go out and buy one of these, there is one question left:

How do I wire it to my 100/6 BN4 where the brake, tail, and flash lights are the same?

I obviously just want the 3rd brake light to work when I break!!

Hi Higgins,
One way would be to tap a new wire into the green/purple wire that runs from the brake switch to the flasher relay and run it directly to the 3rd brake light.

HealeyNut, that's a great install! Very clean. Nicest one I have seen yet. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, roger

Both of my healeys have the third brake light wired this way, but I use a 5 pin relay and also run the brake light wire (that goes from the brake light switch to the flasher relay) off the 5 pin relay as well, this makes the regular brake lights extremely bright.

Higgins,

Please let me know how it turns out, I am interested in putting one on my roll bar.
