3000 MK III sound systems??

Hi everyone.

As my Healey nears completion, I need to make decisions about a sound system. The car is positive ground, and I am going to try and use a voltage booster/inverter in order to use a conventional radio and not have to try to insulate it from the rest of the car. What I would like to know is what others have done to fit a sound system into the car. Where did people locate the speakers? Were you able to find a head unit that fit into the factory location in the stock console? Did you do something creative that can be easily removed from the car so that it maintains its stock appearance? I'm interested in hearing and seeing all your ideas and projects, and your recommendations for speakers and head units.

My sound system is in my garage. I use it while I work on my Healey.
On the road I spend most of my time listening for new and odd noises.
Good luck with your 3000 restoration.

Hi Bill,

While I DO have a Sony AM-FM radio in my instrument panel/dash and round 6" dual-cone stereo speakers in my door panels, they are usually used to hear my Satellite Radio.

My sound SYSTEM consists of two 2 1/2" diameter pipes that protrude from UNDER the rear shroud.

Thanks. I spent five minutes doing a search using that term and didn't find it. Is there some reason why it takes an hour to find this thread?

Here it is. click me It wasn't how long it took to <span style="text-decoration: underline">find </span> it (took me a couple seconds), the time is for reading and looking at the pictures.

Probably the biggest problem with the search function is the date range. It defaults to searching the most recent week only. The range needs to be changed to find older threads.
