hi all new member. just picked up this AH sprite this car was the 1978 scca solo2 national champion. i knew the driver back when i was a kid we worked together at a morgan shop.by chance i met the mechanic for the racer and car who has been storing the car (outside) for over 2 decades. its just too cool looking to let her go to the scrap yard. the car was also on the 1978 scca sportscar magazine cover (trying to locate a copy). so ill run her through the shop in my spare time, i took patterns of those way coool 70's race graphics so we can duplicate it. hey i've done way dumber things in my life!
her's a link to a video of the rescue.
cheers, dan

congats! and welcome - you've certainly got a job ahead of you but it should be a blast - we have some racers around here also who might know the car - keep us posted

That's going to be an awesome project!
Good luck!

I hate Opossums.

Ambitious project! But it's nice to save it, just for the history.

I run mine in about 10 to 12 sprint or enduro events per year (we'll be in New Hampshire next weekend).
<span style="text-decoration: underline">Ewwww!</span> on the dead opposum.

If you were willing to "de-flare" it, this car might make a good vintage racer (SVRA, VRG and most other vintage sanctioning bodies don't allow flares on these cars).

Anyway, G'luck with it!

Pics of the restoration will be required.

You are to be commended for takeing on this bit of history.

thanks for the encouragment guys, i'll will document completely and keep u posted. the flares will have to stay but i would like to race it somewhere again. and as for the possum soup... i dont like soup, so a possum racing cap will have to do.
