Wedge 1976 TR7 Victory Edition on eBay

I am a big Wedge-Head and noticed that this car was put up for sale:

This guy is a member of my club and I have seen this car in person. If you are a die-hard TR-7 lover and want a coupe, then this is the one to get. Unless he ever sells his 1977 Coupe with 5-Speed and Sunroof.

This car is no joke just like one would have been on the dealer lot in 1976. Seriously... the pics on eBay do not do it justice.

Just a heads up for anyone who may be interested. I would love to make an offer, but I've got this TR6 to restore.

For those who attended Triumphest 2005, this was the red TR7 that we had situated out front of the hotel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Are those wheels really special edition wheels? I have a set on my '76 FHC. I don't really care for them though.

I have a programme from the US grand Prix at Watkins Glen which contains an advertisement for the Victory Edition, exactly as described by the vendor.
I really like the spoker wheels, not sure about the vinyl roof and 4 speed transmission, but it sounds like a great car.

VE was indeed the spoker wheels, vinyl top and stripe kit.
At the port in New Orleans we had hundreds sitting around that the dealers would not take. Once the kit was introduced, the cars vanished. Amazing.

Vinyl roofs were still big in the 1970s; as for the four-speed, that was as good as it got on the early TR7s.

As for the spoked wheels, they were amazingly HEAVY, seemingly made out of thick plate steel! And yet some of those wheels were actually subject to a recall campaign:

"Recall Date: JAN 02, 1977

Summary: THE "SPOKER WHEELS", INSTALLED ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, MAY FAIL IN SERVICE DUE TO CRACKS THAT MAY DEVELOP IN USE. CONTINUED DRIVING WITH A CRACKED WHEEL COULD LEAD TO FAILURE OF OTHER SPOKES AND THE COMPLETE COLLAPSE OF THE WHEEL.

Consequence:

Remedy: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE ALL SUSPECT WHEELS WITH AN IMPROVED TYPE OF WHEEL, WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.

Potential Units Affected: 3487"

I was looking (drooling) over that one last night when I was searching Ebay. That is one georgous 7. Don't think I have seen one as nice and so clean.
There was a '76 VE up here I had pretty much bought for $300.00 two years ago. Freshly rebuilt engine, vinyl roof was perfect, body not too bad. Didn't have the Spoker wheels on it though. I was ready to get the tow truck to go get it when my Wife and I (my wife) decided we didn't have the room for it. (Have room for her MG though).
But.. that red one.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
