Hi I need some help in lubing or greasing of the trunnions I purchased them about 10yrs ago new an there are no grease fittings. When I installed them I packed them with grease. The more I read I see they need to be greased more often. thanks

Actually oiled...
but that will start arguments

I have a '73 and I use oil in the trunnions.

Speaking of oil in the trunnion, has anyone thought about putting chainsaw oil in them. I know the seal in a perfect world should keep the 90wgt or 140wgt, depending on who you ask, in the threads, but a sticky chainsaw oil would tend to stay in place. Just a thought while watching the Masters.

According to the TR6 workshop manual, there is a plug on the side of the vertical link that you remove and fit a grease zerk, then fill with 90 weight GL4 Gear oil through the grease zerk, every 6000 miles. It explicitly warns against using grease (but doesn't give a reason why).

There is a marine grease gun that is designed to take grease in plastic "toothpaste" tubes. You can get GL4 gear oil in the same tubes, which work reasonably well with the grease gun. You have to hold it upside down and it might drip a bit, but it does work. I got mine from Mercury Marine, but I'm sure there are other sources. (Link is just an example, not a recommendation)

Thanks for all the suggestions but how can I apply oil or grease without a way for it to enter (ex grease nipples)

REREAD Randall's post.
Or did they start making them plugless??
