MGB 1963 MGB Found in Mississippi...

...& sitting on my trailer under one of my shed's!

VIN is GHN3L8273 so it's a fairly early car....steel wheels...solid body with enough house paint on it to add several hundred pounds to the overall weight! But, the story is it sat in a garage from 1980 until about a year ago...Weber carb (I hate those things) but it runs real strong!! Clutch is on the floor but still shifts, brakes are non-existent but park brake works....I couldn't get either MC open, they've been closed so long but I'm betting they're out of or real low on fluid....Gonna need the floors redone as the 70's repairs look like something an amateur would do! But, my magnet couldn't find any body filler anywhere on the tub/fenders!

At the same place, I also picked up an MGB OD transmission (circa '71), 4 Rostyle wheels with brand new tires, & a late luggage rack!!

Photos as I get a chance.

Oh, BobW...the VIN of my '63 is GHN3L5617 so its earlier than this one!!

Did you get some pics yet Tony?

Nope, raining hard today - heck, its still on the trailer under the shed...I probably won't try to get a truck in to it for a few days.....did buy some aircraft stripper to start getting some of that paint off so I can verify what the magnet told me.

Tony , Thanks for the serial number. My 63's are 8085 and 10273. They both have the lead seam between the dog leg and rocker panel. I noticed your black car was the same when i was there for a visit. I have also had a car in the 72xx and 10xxx range with the same lead seam. I look forward to seeing the new toy! Bob

Bob - gotta decide what to do with it....told Jerri this morning at breakfast that it might be a good car to do Iris Blue...

....or it might get flipped.

My black car (5617) was built in January 1963; the one I just bought (8273) was built in February '63.......yours were built in February (8085) & April (10273)....interesting about the leading we discussed in Chattanooga...when the weather clears up, I'll spray some aircraft paint stripper on the one I just got to check for leading.

Rain let up for a while so I tried to snap some photos while its still on my trailer.....seats aren't in it - they're in my garag:red with white piping.

Appears te be a really solid example....looks to be the wrong era luggage rack, though.

Previous owner really liked red, eh?

Yep, wrong luggage rack.....its for sale (&, if I decide to keep the car, so will be the Weber setup!)

Everything in his building was red! Farm equipment, sully, horse trailer, you name it!

Tony, If you want to sell it give me a shot at it. I may even paint it iris blue and sell it back to you! Looks pretty nice in the pic's. Bob

I will, Bob...need to get it off the trailer & do my real evaluation of it & how it fits into all my other projects (that never seem to get finished)...I have another early pull handle rolling body that needs rockers & old floor repairs redone that I'm gonna also evaluate.

Tony, Looks like the windshield frame is off the same car the luggage rack came from. Still a great find! If its early enough to have the odd w/s frame with the different bottom rail let me know. I just may have a extra around here, Gotta love those early cars. Bob

You're correct, Bob - windshield appears to be off a '70's car....& it should have the weird frame...I've gotta see if I have one.
---------
Just took it off the trailer...1 tire is losing air & the old battery had to be charged; can't tell yet if the fuel pump is fully pressurizing...darn, this thing runs good!

Hmmm, congratulations on your first driver in awile. Hehe.

Smart aleck!! I'll have you know I drove another of my MG's yesterday!!

Nice find, Tony.

Interesting side/turn signal lights in the fenders. An MGB that early should have solid white, no? Ford Pinto perhaps?

That trailer looks familiar Tony! I think it was supporting another red MG at LotO. That's a really nice early model, someone will snap that one up in a hurry I'll bet.

They can't go soon enough! Splendid find otherwise. Looks solid to me.
