I know for most this may be some what repetitive but, I don't have the books that most do and need a bit of help w/o spending a bunch of cash:
Back story, bought a beat up 1960 3000 back in 2006, transferred the registration to my name and promptly put it in storage ( I did it in NH to ease the transition to MA at some point ), long story short the car has now been sold to a large seller of cars and they have found the VIN on the registration to be wrong and there is no VIN plate but there is a body plate, all info I have is as follows:
Old Reg # HBN7L8214 (think this should really be BT7 & this is what we are trying to correct )
Body Tag # 3095BT7, 18079, L ( I think the 3095 is in the correct series of body #'s for 1960 )
No engine #
Has triples on it
Is a 4 seat body
Has a hard top
Specific questions:
Are there any other #'s on the chassis/body that are VIN related ? (ie: would be great if this was listed somewhere on line clearly stated, what I have found to this point is a bit confusing esp. w/ the crazy build structure they had at the time )
Is the only real option to get a Certificate using the body # ?
Does any one have info. that would help show any of these #'s correct ( ie: assuming that correct should be BT rather than BN ), maybe something electronic that I can use as supporting documentation to approach the local Registry to request the letter change ?
Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Pat
