Yesterday I needed to go to Topeka, which is about 75 miles from where I live. A little four lane, a little two lane driving in about 75 to 80 temps, awesome. The BE averages abouit 26 mpg with my driving style. Hard on the gas til about 5 mph over the limit. Noticed a world of sunflowers out and things are still really green for Kansas at this time of year. What a nice day!!!! Cheers

Sounds like a good drive, doing what a Bugeye does best. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Smiles per mile factor seems like it was high.

OK someone needs to say it and I guess it has to be me. I'm really glad the cars get decent mileage and I appreciate y'all checking but don't you think talking gas mileage in a Spridget is a little like talking about the articles in Playboy? it's nice that they have them but that's not why you buy it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Well said, John-Peter! I don't worry about mileage in any sportscar, to include my 380SL....its not the reason to own one!

I certainly don't worry about my mileage, but I do find that I get pretty cruddy mileage for some reason. I always seem to be in the 17-18 mpg range. I don't think I drive that hard, but I do have fun. I have a weber with what I thought was a pretty stock 1275. It runs great and doesn't seem to foul the plugs at all. I even set the mixture and verified it with the colortune and all seemed good. Oh well, I'm not going to short shift and lug around for a couple of mpg anyway, so I guess I'll just enjoy it as is. Someday we'll long once again for the < $4 gas days!

I've had my car about 25 yrs with several motor and tranny combos. I didn't have a functioning speedo for quite a few miles. Now that I'm not a spring chicken, these things are interesting. Through the years I've found quite a few who couldn't do the math and share milage figures that are not reasaonable. This, coupled with the small gas tanks kinda makes it nice to know if you have gone about 150 miles, you better be planning to stop for more gas, because you will anyway. Now about the smiles/miles, unquestionable. Everybody love the BE, including those who see it for the first time.
