Bit of a dream-come-true for sure.

And now I won't have to worry that one day I'll get down on the ground to work on a car and not be able to get back up. o_O

Nice - and you have the overhead room to use it to it's proper height!

(The ceiling in my "new" garage is low, so I can only get a car 2'-3' up... better than nothing, but far from ideal!)

My garage stopped being a garage thirty years ago.
Good thing I don't own a classic car anymore.
Recently thought about putting a lift in the driveway though.

Oh yeah... 110v lift so it's not the fastest, but still quicker than a floor jack and axle stands! :D

slow and steady... you might even say it is Moggie speed!

I have a very low ceiling and thought I had a solution (I didn't) so back to just envying yours. :D

BTW great to hear you playing as well! (I always wondered what you sounded like)

Still thinking of a lift. Have two friends with lifts, one bought his so his brother could work on his Impala, the other to fix his Hondas.

When we moved 5 years ago, one of the reasons was to have room to build a shop. My wife's only recommendation was to make sure I didn't build it to small (she's a good woman). So I've got just over 15' to the trusses, and 5" of rebar-reenforced concrete. The lift was always in the plan, just took 5 years for it to come up in the budget.

Haven't really had a chance to use it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Even getting the car up a few feet to make the engine bay or interior at a more reasonable height.

BTW great to hear you playing as well! (I always wondered what you sounded like)
Given how slow the lift is, I figured it needed something in the background. 🎸

Did the first work with the lift today. Put the Morris on it and just raised it up about a foot or so in order to work in the engine bay without having to bend over. Already worth what I paid for it. :arms:

We moved to this place in large part because I wanted room for a lift, and for the cars in general. It's a real luxury for sure. 36' x 40' of automotive joy.

Did my first real work with the lift this past weekend. Was working on the door lock mechanism on my Morris Minor. Just so nice to be able to get the car a bit in the air -- nothing like bringing the work up to you instead of having to get down to it. Already worth the purchase price.

Serious envy here. Nice looking Morris too. My shop partner has a '60 Morris Minor convert, also white with red interior.

They use old office chairs without arms to roll around the car and slide underneath. Instead of just standing you sit to reach and roll around, if concrete floor.

I have a short shop stool that I use for the same purpose. Very civilized.

The Morris is way more fun than it has any right to be. Was never my dream to own one, but we've had a lot of fun with it over the last few years.

Beautiful garage.

I hate giving advice, especially to those smarter than me - but here goes anyways : I painted my OSB walls and ceiling (important) white, and it made a huge difference in the brightness of the garage. Single coat of the basic stuff from your favorite box store, sprayed it on (masked the floor and windows, wore a respirator). The OSB is like a sponge and it took a lot of paint for one coat - and it is slightly transparent... a second coat would make things look much better, but I was after function. But what a world of difference it made!
