TR2/3/3A TR3 under water again

Between peeks in the heat index today, I drove the TR3 under 68' of water. I thought after that Katrina incident, the TR3 would stall and/or stumble at the thought. The car seemed happy with the decline to the floor and matching 6% grade back to the surface. It was like a walk in the park -appropriately so, since the Washburn Tunnel connects Pasedena to Galena Park.

That's another thing I can cross off the list, drive my flooded TR3 under water.

Wow, that's deep!

I got caught in a big downpour in Bakersfield, CA one time, and didn't realize how much the street I was on crowned. I pulled into a parking lot, and water broke over the hood...

Ahhh, but have you taken it over the big bridge?
I don't remember the washburn tunnel, is it new? Course there is a bunch I don't remember about the area, heh. I left there in '92, I do remember taking the ferry to the San Jacinto Moument.

The big one?

We used to call the "Ship Channel Bridge" on the 610 loop big as it provides 135' of clearance for ships below. It was completed in 1973 and has some of the steepest inclines in town. The "Sam Houston Tollway Ship Channel Bridge" opened in 1982 and provides 175' of clearance for ships below. The "Washburn Tunnel" has been in daily operation since 1950. There are several ways to go over or under the ship channel in Houston, and my TR has taken them all.

On our return trip last year from the east, we stopped in Bay St Louis, Miss. Coming across I10, we drove the "Atchafalaya Basin Bridge". It is 18.2 miles long. -That's a big bridge.

On our west coast trip earlier this year, we took a toll bridge on the other side of the Bay from the San Fransisco Bridge. Upon return, we found our toll tag information is not shared between authorities. In the mail, I was awarded a picture of my car with me driving it, along with a "toll evasion" notice, bill and fine. My wife called and they waived the fine and we were only charged the 4 tolls. Eventually, I got 4 pictures. Had I known there was interest, I could have scanned them, and posted.
