I have one of those 1275 timing chain covers with the can on the front. I bought it second hand at the same time I bought my rebuilt 1275 because the one that came on the engine was in pretty bad shape. However, when the new one arrived, I found that it was a little warped and would not lay flat on a flat surface. I tried my best to reshape it and did ultimately install it, but I've always had a minor leak around the edges even though I used gasket sealer when it was installed. The rubber crankshaft seal doesn't leak.
I've decided that it's finally time to bite the bullet and replace the cover. It also seems to have a very minor leak where the can attaches to the front of the cover, so I'd like to get one of the older-style covers without a can and use the fuel-pump breather kit from MiniMania to vent the crankcase.
I can find the older-style covers on eBay for $30-$50, but I'm worried that they may have the same warping problem. I've searched pretty much everywhere and it seems no one makes a brand new cover. If you know of where to get a brand new one, or if you have one that isn't warped that you'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price, please let me know.
Thanks!
