TR6 Body Shims.

OK, almost ready to drop the body back on my TR6. Does anyone know what order the shims+hardware go? I've a box o' parts from TRF, but the drawings(sadly) do not indicate the order of the parts--ie Frame,rubber,shim, body, washer, bolt? Or frame, shim, rubber, body, washer bolt? There's probably a few more permutations, but those two are the most likely...Maybe frame, rubber, shim, rubber, body, washer, bolt? I think that the main tub (the big four points, get frame, rubber, shim, rubber, body, washer, bolt (if a shim is needed, else, just frame, rubber, body, washer, bolt.)

I'd fall back on what it was when I took it apart, but there was no consistant order of the mountings.

To start with I would return it the way it came apart. If you marked all the pads and washers the location and how many. Then set the body on the frame and see how it fits.

The problem was that some of the shims had rubber on the bottom (frame-rubber-shim), and some had rubber on top (frame-shim-rubber). I expect that there is a 'right' way that would eliminate noise (the best). Additionally, the body is going on a 'new' frame, so all bets are off as far as what shims go where.

My '74.5 is on raised dollies while I work on the doors, so I was able to get shots of some unmolested body mountings. Each one seems to vary a little; must have been a reason. They match the factory parts book (and TRF Green catalog) except in the cruciform area.

The one on the front shock tower brace is rubber-Aluminum pad-rubber. The book says the thick one is on the bottom and looks that way in the picture. The front sidemember (for the front outer floor panel) looks like two rubber pads. The book says both are thin, but looks like a thick one on the bottom to me. The cruciform has two mounting points per side. The parts book shows the rearmost as two rubber pads, but both front & rear on mine are aluminum pads with no evidence of rubber on either side. (Maybe it would be better if they were added?).

I'm just looking at mine from the outside - hopefully someone who has taken the body off can confirm.
