I have been asked to repair a problem with a clutch on a replica 1952 racing Jaguar "C type" made by Proteus in England in the mid 1990s. The vehicle uses a driveline from a 1973 XJ6 4.2 liter with a 4 speed Jag O.D. transmission and the body is fiberglass. It is raw and loud and great fun to drive.....OK back to the clutch. The clutch almost releases, but at the bottom of the pedal travel. A new slave has been installed, and it has been bled and all indications are that there is no air in the system. The clutch arm is pushed all the way to the back of the access hole when the clutch is depressed. The "free" play was set to about 1/32" at the top of the travel. The biggest problem is engaging reverse, as the gears are still turning a bit, and it engages with noise. I am looking for assurances that the clutch is worn out and needs to be replaced, so I do not pull the lump (yes it has to go out the front) and find out it is something else.
Also, does anyone have what the flat rate time is on an R & R for say an E jag....similar construction (I assume an E type transmission is removed with the trans also).
Thanks in advance for your help.
