Have the 100M up on jack stands. Changing the oil, etc. getting ready for Spring driving. Planning on using Valvoline VR1 this time. Any thoughts? What Weight?

Engine oil, I have been using and most will say 20W50, if Valvoline is mentioned. For transmission, again Valvoline is one, but there are other solutions and I am sure others will chime in (aside older posts that may still exist on this subject). The advice I hear over and over is to be sure the tranny oil used is a non detergent motor oil for contaminants remain suspended due to no filtering system to catch, other than the existing screen at the bottom which works on gravity (I believe).

They just do not make any better IMOP.:encouragement:
GOT Zinc too

I run 60 weight but you can use the same single weight you have been running I would think

I have this Arizona and California heat to live with so I have settled on the 60W.

When you change oil in Phoenix in 115 Degree ambient 60W run just like water.:smile-new:

60W in the transmission in Burlington WA?! Burlington's not Phoenix; it's not even Los Angeles. I think 30W is fine. That's what I run here.

I switched to Joe Gibbs 15w-50 Hot Rod oil 5-years ago when my race engine builder suggested it was the best oil to protect internal engine components in periods of extended storage. I put about 500-1000 miles on my BJ8 a year, it's the non-use that I worry about.

Like Dougie, I use Joe Gibbs 15w-50 Hot Rod after it was recommended to me by my machine shop. It has the zinc necessary for flat tappet engines. Not cheap, but how often do you change your oil, and how much does an engine rebuild cost?

30W nondetergent for the tranny.

I'm listening since a couple of years ago we bought a house in Santa Fe, NM. Plan to store the car there and use it 6 months of the year. This will be the first time I will actually store a car due to weather. In Houston it just doesn't get cold enough.
