Just got a new toy - 2013 Honda Jazz (Fit) hybrid (with the continuously variable transmission) - in very bright red.

So far my impressions are
Honda has gone out of their way to make it feel like a "normal" car
the engine doesn't drone at a constant RPM like some (older) CVT vehicles
The paddle shifters seem a bit silly on a CVT transmission but actually work fairly well when "downshifting" to hold the speed going downhill ... and it does shift with enough a kick to feel like a real gear box.
The brakes feel "normal" and progressive - the hybrid regenerating comes in very smoothly.
The electric motor also is seamless when assisting.

The software seems to be stupid however, frequently I notice that it decides to charge the battery while going uphill immediately before I am about to go down a hill with the brakes on the whole way. It also seems to be excessively hesitant to "use up" the battery power when it it full. Of course since I am getting between 42 - 47 mpg in really world mixed driving I can't really complain!

My only real complaint is that the black interior shows EVERY bit of dust crumb spec of dirt...... EVERYTHING. I feel like I need to vacuum the car daily just to keep it clean.

Congrats on the new toy! I'd go nuts with a black interior (looks dark and shows dirt) or a hybrid (not an advantage for me), but otherwise sounds like a great small car.

On my new Nissan Altima with CVT, the engine acts as a brake going downhill with no special input from me. Don't notice any engine "drone", as it's constantly adjusting engine speed and drive ratio. Maybe if I drove at a constant speed on a level surface for several miles I'd notice a drone sound.

Anyway, drive safe!

Fabulous! Nothing like the Herald to make the Fit look big!

One of my sons has one and loves it! He's put a lot of miles on it and it has given him no trouble! Good luck with yours. I've rode in the boys car and it's very comfortable. The transmission is extremely smooth! I think Honda did it up right on this one. :encouragement: PJ

We got a Fit for the wife to drive when the first came out in the 'states, it is a fun car and we like the small on the outside, surprisingly big on the inside practicality, gets about 35 mpg on the highway and high twenties in town, good, but sounds like not near as good as the hybrid, I was intrigued by the Prius C as well, seems like a good comparisons test for the car mags.
