TR2/3/3A 1960 TR3 A Additional steering question

Well I got the steering wheel lash adgusted to what I feel is a resonable amount. However, I find, that if I steer to the left it takes a full 360 degree turn of the steering wheel to lock up the from a straight on postiton. On a right turn I can turn the steering wheel less than 180 degrees. It is not a locked position. Obviously something is not correctly adjusted but I have no idea where to start. The front end was completly rebuilt by me.
So where do I look to find the culprit and get it working right?

Your thoughts, as always greatly appreciated, Tinkerman.

The wheel should turn 2-1/4 turns, lock-to-lock. Or another way, 1-1/8 turn, either direction, from center to lock. The first thing that occurs to me, from your description is that you didn't get the drop-arm on the splined shaft correctly. There are witness marks on the arm and the shaft that must line up -- so that the peg is on the center of the worm when the wheels are pointed straight ahead. That's where I'd look first.

Moses I took the top of the steering box off and put it back on just to check the drop arm position. After the second or third time it is now working normal! Go figure. I didn't know about the 2.25 turns lock to lock so thanks for the info. Now I can get on with getting it ready to put on the road, YEA!

Cheers, Dick

That would scare the bejeesus out of me ... problems that disappear on their own tend to come back on their own. What if you're headed through a cloverleaf and it suddenly decides to not turn right again!

Yes Randall that thought has entered my mind, so much checking will be done to confirm what seems to be an imaculate fix. I am a persnickety sceptic when things like that happen. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them.
Thanks, Tinkerman
