Honda CRX

I saw a Honda CRX on the road today, and I got to thinking about that when did you last see one thread on the "spotted" part of this forum. Thing is I see CRX's on a fairly regular basis. Not bad for a car last made in 1991. I think this is partly a tribute to good old Honda engineering, but I swear I see more 20 plus year old CRX's than I do the higher volume Civics and Accords. Maybe people like small, zippy, but not high powered, fun to drive, good handling, good MPG cars? cars that are kind of like our old LBCs in many characteristics?

I think it's a testament to the car. I remember wanting one really badly years ago.

I "spot" stuff all the time, but I've never received a positive response to a spotted thread, so I gave up.

My older daughter had one. Very nice car, but the tin-worm ate it thanks to the road salt used here in the northeast.

I think your comment about a "small, zippy, but not high powered, fun to drive, good handling, good MPG car" is correct.

The appeal of this type of car is subtle. I imagine a lot of us who like LBCs get it.

We have a lot of guys in our local club that have Miatas, you are right, I have just noticed the CRX's seem to be hanging around as daily drivers, most of them a little rough and rusty in my neck of the woods, but they do have a little bit of LBC character with a Japanese accent don't they?

That is one of the cars I wish that I had kept. It wasn't fast but it was quick. NEVER got less than 52 MPG from a tank. Sometimes exceeded 60 MPG. Reasonably comfortable, 100% reliable.

I was always partial to the Toyota FX-16 as Japanese cars go. Engine was very like the Lotus 1600.
