What was the original finish on the early (forward sliding pane) side screens please? Were they originally polished then anodised or left natural ali?

Mine are dull un-anodised and are making everything they touch go grey, particularly around the hood where the doors close. I'd like to stop this happening but I'd also like them to look fairly original.

Thanks John. Your car looks very nice with the green roof.

What do your side screens have for an opening handle? Mine have rectangles of perspex glued on about 1/2" below the midway point towards the front of the sliding pane but they a bit too home made to be original.

If you look very carefully, you can see a rectangle of Perspex on the lower front part of the front half in this photo from Anderson & Moment. I made mine like this using 3/8" or 1/2" sq clear plastic. The long side of the rectangle is at the same angle as the front of the rear half.

So my question is.....what kind of adhesive should be used to glue the little rectangle of plastic to the perspex sidescreen?

Thanks for the reference pic John.

I found a couple of pics a bit further along in the Restoration Guide that show a handle more clearly and it is near vertical. "Original Austin Healey" also has a nice clear pic showing the top of the handle block approximately the same height as the top dome nut so I'm going to go with anywhere around there is ok.

Interesting that the furflex stops at the level of the draught excluder on the car shown in the Resto Guide, I was under the impression it goes all the way up to just below the scuttle seal.

I had original plex pcs several years ago and the Handle Block was concave on the two longest sides so that your finger-nails(?) could more easily grip it. I think they were about 1/4", ,250 in thickness. Also, all four sides were polished.
