A breakless British Vehicle?

The Rover/Land Rover section here must reflect on how good these vehicles are, as there seems to be no one in stress of a broken vehicle. I know my Range and Discovery were pretty dependable, but not this good.

Larry, I have to assume that there are not many Land Rover owners on the BCF. It's not that the vehicles don't break, it's just that most Land Rover/Range Rover vehicles over here are still new enough for dealers to work on them, and so the dealer is where they go. Very few owners are inclined to roll up their sleeves and have a go at fixing them.

I know that most of the Rover owners of the 1948-1995 do a lot of work on them. I did belong to a couple of Rover sites when I owned a Classic, Disco 1, and a P38 Range 4.6 HSE. I was trying to wake up anybody on the forum, if there were any as, it has been dead for quite a while. Sedans included. Just in St. Louis alone I know of 50 members in the local club that do most of each others work, and when you get to Colorado or Utah it gets much higher. There is a good base in Vermont and Maine. The older Rovers are not an unfriendly shadetree vehicle. I still have quite a few new and used parts in the classifieds here. Only once was I stranded in a Rover ( dead fuel pump ), but only for a couple hours, very easy to fix.

There are a few. I of course have my local club, which is arbitrarily down today

but I don't visit there much either.

Fact is I haven't done any work at all on mine in many years, except a couple years ago I had to replace the foot wells for inspection.

Thanks Steve and racingenglishcars: This thread works and with these four posts has really had a workout. Thought maybe someone would see it and be brave enought to enter. Got tired of seeing the same old header. Merry Xmas!

And a very merry Christmas back at ya! As a post-script I would suggest that Disco owners tend to do a lot of work themselves, and certainly those lucky enough to own "Series" Land Rovers tend to. Perhaps we can tempt a few of those to come here?

I don't know about old 'Rovers but I do know that all of the new 'Rovers around here must have broken turn signals!
We have several in the area and the drivers never can figure out how to turn them on at an intersection!
BillM

Cadillac Escalade owners seem to have the same problem

I have a few Series Rovers. I'm working on my 72 at the moment. When that's done, then I'll get back to the 60 109.. my first car. The 64 is heading off to friend this Spring with an engine I just picked up this week. Just not a chatty forum, I guess. Have a Merry Christmas! Peter C
