Need help with Lotus 7 rebuild

Hi. I'm a new member. I am currently rebuilding a 1962 Seven S2 #SB1415.
Had the car since 1977 and bought it in Scotland. It was taken apart in 1986 and I have now retired and have the time to put it back together.
I've decided to modify a few things. The engine is now a x-flow 1600cc from a 1968 Cortina GT, as is the rear end. The body has been reskinned and it has a new wiring harness with a fuse panel with no less than 12 fuses. My problem today is the parking brake. I have the original handle and rear pivot bracket from the Triumph axel, but no cable. I can't remember how it works and, looking at it, it would appear the cable is stationary and the shielding moves. Any help would be greatly apprediated.

Thanx
Derek K

The inner cable moves and the shielded cover is stationary for mounting. Measure distance you need and what ends ( balls or loops ) and you probably can get one thru the vendors here on this website or locate a local Lotus Club to get your cable.

Thanx Larry
With the cockpit end of the cable in at fixture on the bulkhead frame and the handle moving the shield it just looked like the shielding moved.
Is the shield attached to the tunnel at the exit to the rear and the cable to the pivot?
Thanx again for your reply

Derek,

Glad to see you working on the project. I have a friend who bought an S2 Seven in 1982 maybe even a couple years earlier than that. He has done a conciderable amount of work on it, however to this day it's still not on the road. New tires 10 years ago that are no longer any good, engine rebuilt 5 years ago and still never started, etc. I wonder if my friend will ever drive the car and if he doesn't that's a shame. It looks like you have a plan and are close to enjoying it. If you have time please post pictures of the Seven.

So here are some very old pictures of the car.
1st is on the M6 in the Lake District in England
2nd second is my best friend sitting in it, in Toronto after having it shipped to Canada
3rd is 1979 after its first re-build in 1978
4th is at a Lotus club meet near Orangeville Ontario

I drove the car like this till 1986 when I sent it to a kit builder for rebuilding again. He took the whole thing apart then declared bankruptcy.
I ended up having to go into his shop with the receiver and pick out my pieces amongst the mess. I missed two rear rims with new tyres and the transmission. That's when I decided to go with the Cortina 1600cc, transmission and rear end.
Hoping to have it back on the road next summer, after just 27 years of carrying it around in boxes.
