B26ZIC carb.

Hello, I don't have a Triumph but my car does use a carb. that is used of some Triumphs. It is a Solex B26ZIC carb. I am having trouble putting the Starter Air Assembly back together. I have looked at the manual but it does not help much. The car is a 1958 Ford Anglia 101e. I can get it to run but not with the chock closed. I can only close it half way. Can anyone help.
Thanks Crowe

Crowe, check your control needle, take it all the way in and then one and a half turns out for the basic setting on the jet. I can't remember about the starter air value, it's only been 50 years since I had my Anglia but I will look up what I can find and get back with you if I think I can help.

Hi and thanks Wayne, I picked this car up a year ago. It had been keep in a cold storage building that was no longer in use since 1978. This car has no rust to speak of. There was not any rust in the gas and it had about one gallon of gas still in it. The problem was the brake fluid had turned to powder. I had to replace anything that came in contact with brake fluid. Somebody had installed a second master cyclinder and attached it to the first on. I have no ideal why this person did this, becouse connecting the two together does no good. I could see if they were trying to split the front from the back but it is all tied together. I will try to set the needle valve like you said.
thank for your help. Crowe

Now here is a funny story!! The carb on the Roadster is right at the exact same thing.
When I was in England and had another Roadster we where sure it was the same as the TR3 as it was a '49 2000 TMX 214. We tried to put a set of SU's off the 3 and the head was completely different. Go figure, I was under the impression the English never change anything..LOL..

Wayne, I'm assuming that roadster had its original Vanguard engine...which went through all sorts of development just to become the TR2 engine. I can't say for sure, but I imagine the heads are very different between the typical Vanugard engine and especially a later TR3 engine (particularly the later TR3 high-port heads, etc.)!
