Lime Rock is a tight little track. Matt Hagopian finished 3rd in Group 9. The big Healey finished somewhere behind him

I've been ontrack with both those cars.

Both really quick cars.

I'm pretty sure that Bugeye has a 5-speed.

I noticed the allowable mods for production cars have loosened up quite a bit. Bugeyes and all Spridgets for that matter, weren't exactly welcomed with open arms at the Fall Festival in the early years. Those that were allowed to run had 948s and stock steel wheels. When the VSCCA was the sanctioning body, '59 was the cut-off date and they were pretty strict about the cars they felt should participate. Don't know if the organizers are allowing 1275s and 5 spds. If so, that's a pretty formidable weapon on that track.

The VSCCA was very strict.
Unfortunately they made things a bit <span style="text-decoration: underline">too</span> tough (in my opinion).

So, a person with a '60 Bugeye or a '60 MGA was not welcome. And cars routinely ran without seat belts or roll bars so they were more authentic. This sort of thing didn't appeal to a lot of racers.

The result was that other groups were formed who are more welcoming and with more flexible rules.
Things like disk brakes on a Bugeye are pretty much OK with most vintage groups.
And updated belts and roll bars are required.

With most vintage groups, a close-ratio gearbox is fine, but a 5-speed is not. But if other racers don't complain you'll always get folks who push the rules.

These days, the Lime Rock event is run by the track itself....there's no outside sanctioning body.
