New project

Not mine actually, but saw this being towed at the hanger today. Made me think that if we get a charge out of having a project car on a trailer than how exciting must this be?

More exciting for his banker. When I was flying T-38's, the stats were 300 gallons of JP4 and 10 maintenance hours for every hour of flight. That does not include parts, and they broke often.

Unless you can find someone ELSE to foot the bill...I would let the museum have it!

Disposable...I like that LOL!! Major bucks vaporized into major (though very, very short) fun. That is truly what it is for a vintage jet...though disposable outcome would describe it better.

Truly a kick in the pants. Hack the clock, light the burner, and 3 minutes later you are 7 miles up and supersonic...


....and the student was still mentally back on the runway. A bit faster than he can keep up! In the brief I would rib them that they better pay attention, because...since I sat behind...he wouldn't be able to hear me once we passed the sound barrier. Most were gullible enough to believe it!

Truly though...it is just as exciting sitting with your rear 6 inches above the road at 70mph on the freeway at rush hour, with your arm hanging over the side of a TR3...with my head half as high as the truck wheels in the next lane. Invigorating!

I'd have a hard time finding a legal substitute for being supersonic 3 minutes after starting the roll.

I told my wife (fiance at the time) the same thing when I was in pilot training. She got angry after she had told all kinds of people when I finally told her we were talking into microphones!

Here's an even funnier one. One of my buddies lost his canopy at 500 knots. Said the wind sucked him out of the seat by the lift on his helmet...Bournouli's equation at work. Said his eyelids were buzzing at 20,000 hertz from the wind! Had to use his foot to reduce the throttles, as he couldn't reach them while the he was sucked against the shoulder straps.

I would think 500 knots in a TR3 would feel similar...could be a goal!?!
