Hillclimb this Weekend

I had a friend asking me if I wanted to attend
the Hoopa Hillclimb,in Hoopa,CA,this weekend.
I read the brochure,& it gave the requirements
for helmets, fire extinguishers, etc.I looked in my helmet
bag,& found my trusty Simpson full-face helmet -"Snell 1975"
is what the sticker said.Scary.
I looked into hemets,& a good one is at least $130.
I asked the Cortina people about reccomendations,& Don,from
Texas,is sending me his Snell 2005 helmet.Said he had to buy
a new one for vintage racing,& wanted no compensation for it.
I'm planning on at least reimbursing him for the shipping.
I uh,er,didn't discuss attending this with my Wife,
but when I talked to her about it,she insisted that I go!
Now let's see if I can make a 45 year old MGB GT look good,
without embarrassing myself too much.

Don,

I don't think so - the Lotus cars don't do so well
with the dual Webers,as the have no "bottom end" coming out
of the corners.I thought that an Elan would be the hot setup,
but proved me wrong.
Although I did OK in '87,in a Lotus 61 FF.I also held
the H Stock record in our Fiesta for a short time.

Mickey,

I'll see what I can do,as my camera isn't very good at
moving pictures.

Doug:

Good luck!

And no need to show us moving photos....just a nice shot of you and the Trophy Girl will be fine.

By the way, I found an in-car video of the Hoopa Hillclimb HERE.

Nial,

I rented a friend's '85 GTI a few years back,
missed the new class record by 99/100th of a second-
missed the 1-2 shift, which was a problem with that car.
I'm not too worried about winning a trophy.I'll
just set my goal as being 45th out of 45,& go from there.

Don,

We don't like to see those sort of things.
