If it's more temporary situation, a netbook is great.

I have one of ~These~, which is great for traveling. A little tight for my fat fingers, but very handy.

If this is more of a long-term deal, then I'd agree with Jody and get a full size laptop (typing will be easier).
I have a regular-size (15") Dell laptop for most of my work stuff plus some home useage.

Ive an Asus Eee. Similar to the Acer, good for "on the go". I'll agree with the other guys: laptop for ease of typing, larger screen.

whatever is available at Best Buy. by now the amount of RAM and memory is huge regardless. I bought a Lenovo (used to be IBM before they sold it offshore) but they are all pretty much the same and the competition is pretty fierce.

:iagree:

Ditto. You can drive yourself mad comparing them.

For what it's worth, though, the Toshiba I've had for a few years is still working great - never a hiccup at all.

Small laptop gets my vote. I have a 12" Toshiba I've had for years. Getting old now but it's been virtually perfect. Also bought a 14" Dell E5400 for a couple of years now that I use in the airplane. Usually I only get a couple of years out of a laptop in that environment but this one looks and works like-new.

A tablet will get the job done. If you don't want to go the iPad route, a Motorola XOOM will run about $365. They work great for email and web use, on top of a ton of other things - I absolutely detest touch-screens of all kinds so if I were limited to a tablet I'd look at an external real keyboard.

My cure for hiccups is swallow a teaspoon of dry sugar. Works every time.

That said, depending on the distance, two cans and a string works well.
