Gotta say I'm a fan of TRF..... I like MOSS, too, since they support BCF, and it's fun to visit Goleta once a year.

Charlie? That's like calling John the Baptist 'Jack'.

IOW, I have never heard anyone call Charles by any other name.

But seriously, he is a real TR guy who makes an extra effort to get things right. And I, too, am a Moss fan -- both fine companies who don't just make this hobby better... they make it possible.

How about "Chuck"?

From every email that I have ever received from his weekly sales pitches, he always signs everything as Charles.

That's OK, some people I know hate being called Mike, Bill or Bernie, or a bunch of other variations of a formal names.

IMO there is a difference between "ok" and what someone prefers to be called. So I'll go on calling him Charles (even as an investor) unless we've both had a few beers first.

One of his former employees who I now call on for business has always called him Chuck. I didn't he cared for it then. I was corrected years ago when I referred to him by that name. Don't recall if it was by an employee or fellow club member.

All of the current employees(that I know of) call him Charles.

I am friends with some of the employees at TRF and one in particular has been there since 1978... To all of them he is Charles, just as his oldest son is always Albert not Al. I believe it's because Charles sounds more formal and respectable as a "university educated business owner". Just my two pennies.

After couple years of ordering/buying parts from TRF by the time I met him @Triumpest 1986 (Pismo Beach) while buying more brand spanking new parts I called him Mr Runyan few Triumphests later @VTR '90 (Boulder, Co) got on the first name basis, to date, for me it's Charles his company TRF largely responsible for the resto of my '72 TR6 did I mention owner/enthusiat (drives TR6/5) that always greets you with a smile & handshake. Thanks Charles

Don't forget his TR3A that he drove from PA to CA for the 2009 "East meets West" VTR/Triumphest.

I grew up in western PA and still have family there. When I was back visiting about four years ago, I called Dave, who I have known for years and asked if I could take a tour and take pictures. He said yes, so my wife and I spent about two hours going from one end of the place to the other. I've had it posted on my website ever since. Charles wasn't in town then, but Albert and everyone else was, so here it is: https://www.74tr6.com/trftour.htm

I got to see that one at British Car Day in Bowie, MD circa 1986! It was great at those early car shows being able to meet and talk with Charles and John (and no I can't imagine calling Charles anything but Charles!).

What I want to see is that LeMans car restored, with the "Sabrina" engine!

Alas, I seem to have lost all the photos I took, of the frame and engine.
