Front hub & rotor removal

Hi all,
Just found this site - what an excellent resource? Anyhow, I have a question to ask: How does one remove the front hub and rotor from the hub assembly (in order to get at the wheel bearings)? It looks like I need to get the bolts off from the rear (inside??) but can't figure how...
Thanks in advance and looking forward to posting more questions!

I am assuming that you have already removed the brake caliper. To remove the hub and rotor you must remove the grease cap from the hub. If this is a wire wheel hub you may need to make a puller for the threaded stud on the grease cap. Under the cap you will find a large hex nut held with a cotter pin. Re-bend the pin so that it is straight. You must now find the hole in the side of the hub so that the pin can be pushed through. This is on the wire wheel hub. There is no hole on a disc wheel hub. Remove the pin. Now you have to find a hex socket big enough to fit the nut and I can’t remember what size that is. Remove the nut and the thrust washer. Be careful of the shims behind the thrust washer. They may be stuck to the thrust washer or to the face of the outer bearing. They are delicate. Remove the hub with a suitable hub puller. The hub may come off by pulling on the rotor by hand. If you are doing both sides of the car don’t mix up the bearing rollers. If they are in working order they must go back in their respective races. Reinstalling the hub is another fun game. If anyone sees something missing in this, please correct me. Remember, cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Here is some good wheel bearing info. This is posted on Jim Werners web site: https://members.aol.com/bgahc/02_jwha_wheelbearing.html

If you want to work on your car yourself and don't own a Healey maintainence manual and Norm Nocks Tech notes , I recommend you invest in both of these items they are worth the money.

Good luck
