Bugeye Color Samples

I've known what the names of the colors are for the Bugeyes, but have never seen them all in one place. The brochures do not have clear colors. So here are samples of the colors I came up with and representative cars. As a caution, your color may vary, so take it what its worth. This one: Whitehall Nevada Beige and Iris Blue.

I can understand that Iris Blue replaced Speedwell Blue, a little darker and more vibrant. But why replace Dark Green (as close as the Sprites get to BRG for a while) with Leaf Green (not my favorite). And also, why replace Primrose Yellow (my favorite) with Whitehall Beige (a rare color indead).
Maybe since I had a Miata Sunburst Yellow, I like the easy yellow of the Primrose. I do have to admit, my first BE was a BRG (never even considered that I should use an original color, in 1975) and painted it a Triumph BRG. As my car is OEW (not my choice, but bought fully painted), I think if I could have any color, it would be Speedwell Blue. Second place would be Primrose. Third would be Iris, and fourth would either be OEW or Whitehall. What do you think?

I don't think Leaf Green replaced Dark Green. I think the darker green came later. Oldest brochure I have lists Leaf Green and the car has painted windshield pillars and one piece side windows. Could be wrong tho. It is a early brochure. It lists Cherry Red, Iris Blue, Nevada Beige, Old English White and Leaf Green as the available colors.

According to Horler, Leaf Green replaced Dark Green from AN5-9927 in January. Iris Blue replaced Speedwell Blue and Beige replaced Primrose in January 1959 as well.

Unless that's a bad photo, it isn't Primrose Yellow YL04 it's the later YL12 used on MK3? Mk4? Sprites. This is Primrose.

Also, this is Cherry red. That looks like the later Tartan? red.

I agree with John about the Primrose and Cherry Red.

I always assumed the dark green Bugeye on the cover of Horler's book was THE dark green. The "dark green" in the pic above looks like a later MG color...(?)
