TR2/3/3A TR3A front brake cailper leaking

Folks,

The seal between the two halves of the Girling calipers is leaking. This is the type of caliper with the two-piece retainers for the pads. The seal is no longer availble even though Moss shows it as an availalbe O-ring. The seal is more oval and flat in cross-section rather than round like an O-ring. Any suggestions how I might use some sort of brake-fluid-resistant sealant to stop the leaks?

You might try calling The Roadster Factory.

Never heard or that. Brakes are very important. when in dought change them.

Last year I lost one of those seals rebuilding my front calipers. I just used an O ring out of one of my assortments and it worked fine.

Did you ask TRF about the seal? I've heard they have them, although they are not listed in the catalogs or included in the standard rebuild kit.

I've also got a long-ago post saved that claims a Beck-Arnley kit 071-1051 includes the seals.

We're talking potentially 1000 psi under panic stop situations, no way would I rely on sealer to "fix" a leaking seal at those pressures, even on a car with dual circuit brakes.

However, in a pinch, I might measure the old seal and see if MMC had something that would fit. They carry square and "double seal" O-rings in various sizes and materials. ISTR EPDM is the right material for brake fluid, but you should double-check that.
