Tried to fire my car today... literally.
I had all my COPs stuff wired in and I was ready to give her a go. Cranked a few times and nothing... A few more times and a little spit back into the intake. Right, coil wires are swapped. Fix that and crank... and crank... and crank... Check that my plugs are firing... they are. Check that they are firing at the right time... they are... but what is that raw fuel smell every time I crank? Oh look! There is a puddle under the car. Let's see if we can figure out where that is coming from. A visual and touch inspection of the fuel system reveals nothing. Okay, let's hot wire the fuel pump and see what comes out where... I see a drip! And it is coming from... THE EXHAUST FLANGE!?!? I pull the EGR plug from the intake manifold and see a LAKE of fuel. I pull the trigger on my fuel-pump-hot-wire-rig and see that my fuel injector is stuck full open.
And all this on a day when half of Central Texas is on fire.
Once again, God protects the stoopid.
