Marcos. Originally built by Jem Marsh, and Frank (i think) Costin. Costin came from an aircraft background, where wood as a structural element is more accepted. Used correctly, it can be as lightand as strong, as steel or aluminum. There are some other Costin designed cars around, including some one offs, and wood plays a big role. (As does his sort of odd looking but very aerodynamic design) I would love to have an old school Marcos...

It was Frank. The Brothers Costin had their hands in about every important automotive endeavor in England back in the day, IMO.

if you have an old Victoria British catalog, they used to sell them as upgrades for Spitfires, too.

Oh man.... WANT!

There's only a handfull of them in the US. Last one I saw for sale was a rather tired yellow one in the middle of nowhere.

All i need to acquire this one is time, space and money!

There was a Marcos on the cover of "Car&Driver" magazine
back in the late '60s.The headline for it said something like-
"Mother's Hide Your Daughters - Marcos Is Here!".

Jody,

There's one in Sierra Vista, AZ. Only one I know of in AZ. There are about 80 in North America with maybe 30-40 of those in running condition.

Man, really? My brother in law lives down there. We visit him frequently. I don't suppose you know the owner?

I've never seen one in person and would love the chance.
