TR6 TR250/TR6 - Improving hand brake mech advantage

I understand that late in TR6 production, B/L made a design change to the hand brake linkage (actually added a link) to improve the mechanical advantage of the hand brake lever. Does anyone know if these parts are available?

Thanks

I found the only 2 my local British Car Salvage yard had about 5 years ago. I'd try that route. It helped my 4A with a little more leverage advantage. One of the improvement books has a drawing for making them. I'll look for the title tonight. Looked simple enough to me to make but I was able to find them.

I can get some photos of the late TR6 linkage for you, as mine had them on it when I was disassembling. Mine were in pretty bad shape though, and I've got to do a lot of refurbishing on them. I did not find them available from any of the big 3 however.

I found the photos. It's the center piece here that attaches between the end of the cable and the lever.

I bought a pair recently from Tony Hart in the UK who deals with Triumph Stags (https://www.hartrace.demon.co.uk/). Sorry, I can't figure out how to post an image. They are two extension pieces made from aluminium that fix onto the brake levers on the back of the drums, increasing the mech advantage of the handbrake.

There is a drawing on page 55 of Roger Williams book "How To Improve Triumph TR2- 4A" on how to fabricate these extension pieces. A simple item to make.

If you could post a photo of the drawing to fabricate them that would be helpful... thanks.

Sorry but I am not following this line of brake work. I do not live on or near hills, when I park I rarely if ever use hand brake on any of my cars. parked over winter OK working on carbs OK change and or rotate tires OK. Three of four clicks done. 1973 TR 6. Setting hand brake in Northern Nevada is a bad idea because setting brake in cold weather with wet drums will lock up wheels. I would like to hear others on use I could be missing something I was never told. Madflyer
