/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif Wow. The things I have to do for my friends. I went to the Grand National Roadster Show at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. A friend of mine wanted to have his car on display in our Manufacturers Booth since it was a roadster show. This friend has a 32 ford Roadster with a 383 Chevy stroker motor with two Vortec superchargers, one on each side. I agreed to use it in the display and told him that we would have a trailer over to pick the car up.
Well when my driver got over to put the car on the trailer, imagine this, the guy says "NO WAY!, the car does not ride on trailers IT IS A DRIVER!" Then he tells the driver to get me over to his house muyeee pronto!
I get over to his house and ask Billy whats up? He says
"You are going to have to drive the car over to the show!" So I look at him and I'm thinking as I am looking at this 32 Roadster, I'm thinking HMMM, Drive a 1500 pound car with a 700 Horsepower engine, or don't use it in the display. Hmmm, what to do. Well as he twisted my arm up behind my back I said "OK, If yo want me to drive it, I guess I will have to drive it over to the show". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gifInside my skull my brain was going woooowwwweeeeeee, yepppeeeeee! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif I'm telllin ya gang as I climbed into the car, fired that muther up, it rocked, shook, smelled of hi-octane, and as I left his shop, ROASTED OFF a set of hides a block long! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif
As I was entering the freeway he called me on my cell phone, he wanted to remind me that the car only gets 5 miles to the gallon and it has a 15 gal tank. I arrived at the show, picking the bugs out of my teeth (from smileing while listening to that whine of the twin superchargers) and parked the car in the display area.
I brought the car back at 9 PM Sunday evening with just as big a smile. The car was alot of fun, just a little more punch than my MG I will admit. Wow, with friends like that who can ask for more. Also, the car was a fire engine red with a roll cage built in, got glares and stares all the way there! What a weekend. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif
