looking for big healey fender vents with the outside flange..anyone have a USA source for theses??

The part number for the steel ones is AH275. These are the ones I have. Here is a photo:

They have a small flange on the outside edge, but I spot welded and brazed them onto the inside to make a nice, smooth edge. If you search Britis Car Specialists Parts Inventory for AH275 there is a link to a photo. I also had to cut the vent fins to clear the footwells and a diagonal brace. Also, make sure you clear the inner fender when you cut the hole in the outer fender.

Yes, you can feel the heat coming out of them if you hold your hand out while going down the road.

Before I fit my (door) trim panels last fall, there was a gap in the windlace around the door. We were coming home from a "CarBQ" last July and my leg was getting roasted! I was trying to keep my left leg as close to the steering column as I could.

The heat was definitely blowing in through the door from the outside, not radiating through the floor panels, as it was fine when we'd stop for lights.

As you can read, Randy has the definite answer. I haven't tried driving with my hand outside the vent. I did a number of upgrades during my rebuild to reduce temperatures, so I can't tell which ones were the most effective.

Who remembers the recipes for cooking stuff, like new potatoes, sausage & onions, etc., wrapped in foil on "the ledge" of the Healey cylinder head?

I think they were run, or perfected, by some of The Pacific Centre membewrs.

'Fraid so. That was during the days of the gas crisis and 55 mph national speed limit. Never tried it though. I prefer my food without the eau d'colio.

I've read that cooking stuff on the cylinder head was common to more than Healeys. In fact, there is a cookbook - "Manifold Destiny".
