Spin on Oil Filter conversion on a 1098

I also posted this on the MGE in case anyone sees it there too.

I finally got tired of the annual canister oil change, fighting to get a ring gasket to seat and then finding out it didn't when I get half a quart of oil squirting all over the frame and engine. I bought a spin on filter head unit from a 1275 to put on my 1098.
Before I do this:
Are there any tips for converting from you guys who have already done this? It looks pretty straight forward. Unhook the tube, remove the two block bolts, pull off the old canister unit. To install the spin on unit, reverse the procedure.... New gasket, some loctite on the block bolts....Anything else?

Does anyone have a list of correct spin on filters?

I did this on my Sprite, 948 motor.
It really was just as straightforward as it seems.
I have a spare filter in the trunk I'll get the number in a bit - I think it's a Valvoline brand.

If you want quality Mann GFE148, I can’t answer what Auto-Crap life time warranty will provide for that application. But GFE148 is the right fit for the spin on application.

The nice thing about spin on is they spin off easily, so you can replace them often.

I looked and mine is a Valvoline VO-25.
They had several at the True Value across the street so I bought them, insuring oil changes for a couple years.

Many will fit, but that should help with cross referencing.

Installation is straight forward, just make sure you have the right length bolts and the right gasket.

There is a list of filters in my Tech section under the Info/Tuning drop down menu. It's probably not comprehensive as I complied this years ago, but there are quite a few of both types.

Quick? Are the spin-on kits the same on a 1098 as for a 1275?

As far as I know a 1275 spin-on will fit right on a 948 or 1098.. RickB did it to his 948. I'm about to try

I run a 1098 and this has been done to my engine. I can't imagine NOT doing it.

Miss Agatha has a spin on complements of Hap. She is very pleased with the change.

I'm waiting for it to get here in the mail. I just changed the oil yesterday, so may wait until the next change to make the swap. I'll be sure to post on it though.
