MGB-GT advice on MGB GT evaluation

Hello all new to the MG side, I was a regular on the Triumph side until I totaled my TR3A after restoring.

To the point, I am looking at a 73 MBG GT that is overall a very nice car, I noticed however that the passenger door stands proud on the bottom by say 3/16" (I am guessing).

Front and rear edges have good lines, no signs of rust in pans, rockers etc and the car passes magnet test with exception of 6 inch area on drivers side rear quarter.
The doors shut with a very nice/tight/solid sound

IS there any adjustment to bringing in the bottom?

Is this a sign of former unibody damage and perhaps incorrect repair (be easy on me, my Triumph had a frame)

Griff, my knee-jerk answer to this would be that it's a sign of a poor sill replacement job. Possibly the repairer didn't reinforce the door/sill when repairing, let the sill area sag, thus resulting in a poor fit and finish. Could be other causes, but that's my guess. Not a fatal flaw, but not all that easy to correct.

And, having noted the poor door fit you need to check very carefully for other anomalies and collision damage. Get a strong magnet and carefully run it over the entire surface of both sills and peripheral areas to check for the presence of bondo/filler. If you detect excessive amounts of filler, run away quickly from that car and wait patiently for a better example. There are plenty of nice BGTs out there, restored correctly, for really great prices.

The MGBGT is the most underpriced LBC on today's market, period. A really fantastic car in many ways, for a relatively tiny investment.

I have done magnet test and found only two small spots where magnet wouldn't stick (fairly weak fridge magnet), The two spots were about 4 inch x 6 inch at doglegs Rockers appear to be all metal and the floor-pans look good so, I am guessing that perhaps they replaced the rockers and had to add a bit of bondo to make the line right toward the rear. Or the door could be proud because the rocker was inset a bit too far.

I tend to think the uni-body itself is good since the doors shut so well and the lines are very good with the exception of the bottom edge being proud by about the same amount all the way across.
