Assuming that seller is out of business? We generally don't do illegal things here.

At least we do it under the Boss's radar!

What information is missing and did they sign the title over to you?

Wayne,I live in nj and have been down this road before. The fact you have a title is good.I would try to get a notarized bill of sale and return to mv with a number tracung ,that should match title number, probably your bulkhead plate.
If they tell you that you must go to Trenton, ask for the office and phone number so you can call to make sure you have all required. When I did that the Trenton guy called local office and told him to issue title.
Option two is a title service. They operate in the legal gray area, and Mv may balk at an Alabama title, but can be done. They advertise in Hemmings etc.
option three is lost title. You have to run add in local paper for certain number of days and get inspected,I think by state trooper.I have never done this.
Donor title would be my last option for obvious reasons.
You would think they would be happy to collect your declared value taxes, and recently raised transfer and reg. fees.
Good Luck

Wasn't there a thread about this place recently? I seem to recall finding this info but the website is down now so they are probably no longer in business.

Doing a further Google search shows the company is out of business. Pity, because it's only a few miles from my workplace..... Sorry, no help there!

I recently went through the same thing getting the title for my TR250, but it sounds like the laws in Nebraska are different enough from Jersey that my experience would not be much help, I ended up having to get a bonded title.

I tried my best to be patient and pleasant to the DMV staff I dealt with, figuing if there were any boderline or judgment calls involved I wanted the benefit of the doubt. Small thing, but can't hurt and might help.

In Washington you only need the last registered owner and if he or she does not show up and claim the vehicle after X time they give you a title. Here, if you have the plate number you can get the address. Basically, you have to send two certified letters to the last known address of the register owner and if they come back to you unopened from the post office you start the title process. I once almost hijacked a tr3 from a repair shop because the guy left it there and I knew the law. The shop could not sell it. He could have placed a repair lean, but I was not sure what he was up to and I am not sure he was either. I did not follow through because of the possible bad feelings from the shop, and I found out the guy was actually in prison. It was a very clean and all original 58 with wedge curtains and the two Dzus trunk locks. It had gotten so far; I could have sent a wrecker and towed it to my house. It was sitting outside a repair shop for some time in the rain.

It's a little bit more involved than that, unless it has recently changed. Was three registered letters, returned unopened (reason I knew that, is I got three letters from a friend to a previous owner of my house!), State Patrol has to come out, insure the VIN is what is on their records, THEN you get a new VIN, attached and stamped into your sheet metal, and I cannot remember if it's 6 months or one year "appeal" window where you can't sell it.
Gives that guy in jail time to get out and appeal the process, I guess.

Had a guy across the street have to do that on a pair of 56 Caddys, just so he could scrap them. Cost him $300 per car, just so the scrappers would haul them away.

I won't tell you about the two Big Healeys laying in the back yard.....right where they were when I moved here 35+ years ago.....

I've done both, bonding and title service. I used the title service because it was faster and easier. I sent them around $250 and 3 weeks later a set Maine tags in my name showed up. When I went to have a VIN verification at a local car dealer (since the car now technically came for out of state) the lady says, "Triumph, who makes that?" Bonding would have been less than $100 but requires a whole lot of legwork.
