Came across some old pictures in the family archive/photo box recently, these ones had cars in them and were all taken in England except for the last picture (taken in Germany I think)

And one non-British picture... a VW Beetle picture, said to be a brand new car at time of picture, I think 1960's [edit - definitely an early oval window Beetle, 1955 or 1956?]

Having second thoughts about the year of the Beetle picture above, depending on the angle of the camera... that back window looks pretty small to me, an early example?

and the Morris Oxford's a Morris Oxford - the grille and side chrome trim tell it apart from it's Austin Cambridge twin.

The cars were a trip. Thanks for sharing. I remember the Viscount aircraft as well. They used to fly over the house with that odd whistling sound. There were sort of a step between reciprocating engines adn the later jets, as I recall. T.T.

To clarify... I do know what an Austin Cambridge/Morris Oxford (Farina-styled) looks like, and know that they are virtual twins of each other /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif And for that matter, the Landcrab could be either an Austin or Morris for all I know

Just sorting through some old family picture (or pictures found in the family photo box that aren't necessarily family), there aren't many pictures of cars in the 1950's though mostly other things

I think that is an A30, again small back window, however it does appear to have a chromed grill as of an A35, maybe painted light colour?

Vickers Viscount was a turbo prop, basically a jet engine drove a turbine that was geared to the props. Rolls Royce 'Dart' if I recall correctly and very similar to engines of Fokker Friendship and the Fairchild equivalent.
