There is an access hole in the backbone under the carpet/console, and you can "reach" the tailshaft seal with the driveshaft slid back, but it won't be easy. I did mine when the unit was out of the car, so I cannot say for sure whether it is feasable or not. Evidently Tony has done so before.
When you replace that seal, check the driveshaft yoke for wear. Mine was very worn right at the seal point, and was the reason for my leak.
Original motor? Dellortos certainly are not on this series, but a nice upgrade for sure. I got em on mine.
