Well it looks like I will be checking out the Triumph page as well as the sunbeam page.
My grandson found a 63 Spitfire original owner car.last driven in 1979.Was in a shed till 2 years ago and then outside with a good tarp.The shed was starting to fall inwards.Not too bad at all with mostly sufrace rust in the front floor pans.Body is in pretty good shape and the rockers are solid.Missing the soft top and frame and has a broken windshield.heck of a job dragging it up the ramps with 2 very bad flat tires on the front.Only had to drive 200 miles round trip

Next thing is to get some things done as then to see if the engine will be free turning.Just maybe after some of the good things one needs to do it will start

pull the plugs and dump some trans fluid in there and go do the other stuff.

I want a 63.. I really want to switch to an older car someday. My wife was dead set on a 69 for some reason, personally I like the old low bumper older cars.

Also I agree, pictures please.

You may have to wait for pictures a liite while.
I'll do the best I can when I go to my son's place next time
The I'll get my grandson to show me how.It is still on the trailer with 2 flat tires.I have to get a new tire for the trailer.About 30 miles from their place I lost a hunk of tread on one of the trailer's tires.Made it back OK.Will remember to take the spare next time

There's also various bits and bits and bobs in the trunk, like mirror mounting brackets, switches, fuses, cream cheese containers...

I was going to say that those look like Mk3 seats. The side reflector in the back fender is different as I don't believe Spitfires had anything like that until the 1969 Mk3.

What fun you will have! I have a 1971 MkIV 1500. Its better than working in the garden! a little elbow grease, and your off and running.

right, im back!

I changed the oil and the plugs and checked a few other bits, and we got it to turn. It wants to start, but it ain't quite there yet.

ive since moved it off the trailer and into its new home:


heres a better photo of the seat(s)


im interested to know if these are original since I quite like them (especially in red with a white trim :wink: )

The discussion regarding the side reflectors made me look around for more unusual modifications and I noticed these:


There are more reflectors on the doors! Now, I don't really know if thats stock but it seems a rather unusual inclusion.
