I lifted the rear corner of my BE yesterday. Loooong story.
Well....acute fracture of my T12 vertebrae ensued. Long ambulance ride and 8 hours later I now sport some new equipment. Fancy dancy back brace and bed rest for a days to come. Bright side = Awesome meds! Downside = *&%^*# PAIN.
Thank God no surgery anticipated.

Ouch - you are in our thoughts and prayers! Get rest and don't be stupid and try things too soon (don't ask me how I know)

Yowza! Sounds terrible! I hope you're feeling better soon and that this won't keep you out of your car for too long!

I am anxiously awaiting the backstory on this one. ;-)

Ouch... Take it easy and get better.

I no longer move engines on and off the work bench by hand for a similar reason. It only takes one of these moments to put a permanent reminder in your body that you are not as young as you once were.

Oh gosh, Gundy! Did you do this on the ride yesterday that I missed? All the best to you. I'm figuring sprite riding will be out of the question for a while too. Spridgets are not easy on the back when you have back problems, that is why I put the electric inflatable lumbar cushion out of an XJ6 in mine. It helps a lot. What were you doing lifting the sprite by hand? On, second thought, I have been there. Sometimes you go to pick it up just to get floor jack under it.

When you're better you'll have to elaborate on "lifting the BE".

May you have a speedy recovery with all the meds needed to keep you comfortable!

Alcohol may intensify the effects of the meds! Hope you get better soon, and I use a jack for the heavy lifting.

it's a small world

Went to see the Neuro Surgeon today. Generally good news.
He may glue the dang vert back IF....big IF...my $1400
a month health ins will authorize the procedure.
Thing is it looks like it will heal by itself....in a couple of
months. All the while I'm in nasty pain. Pain be damned it
is all about the money with the ins company.
Doc has seen them refuse payment when there are indicators it is healing naturally. Geeeeeesh.
I just can't stand the thoughts of months of this pain and wearing this carbon fiber "clam shell".
Two nights ago I tried sleeping with heavy meds and no clam shell. 10:30 p.m. I awoke to screaming at the top of my lungs
and hurting so bad I threw up. It strained my vocal chords
to the point I have laryngitis.
Sucks to be me.
Anyhow...Doc asked how it happened and when I mentioned
Austin Healey Mk1 he goes" Bugeye, right?"
Turns out he races a Miata and before the Mazda he ran Mini
Cooper. He's going to Carolina Motor Sports track in a few weeks.
Taking the camper and the family.
We talked some A series shop talk. Really cool guy!
He said he will do his best to get the pre-approval for the procedure. He will stress how acute the dang fracture is and the risks I'm facing while waiting out a natural healing.
If the procedure gets approved the pain will be gone in
about 24 hours.
Upped my meds while he was at it.

I can't imagine how bad that must feel.
Glad to hear you have a caring, knowlegable doctor.
Maybe he'll put your name on the side of his race-
car,as a paying sponsor.
