Greetings,
I've found a donor source for a ford T9 gearbox. I plan to use it with either the Canley or Frontline 5 speed gearbox conversion kits for a GT6 Mk III. My question is, what donor gearbox do these conversion kit suppliers use? I understand there to be differences in the input shaft length (short or long) and I want to get the one that will properly match the adapter plate and other items in the conversion kit. Also, does anyone know if the donor gearboxes come from a 2.3 or 2.8 Sierra, or from a 2.9 Scorpio? I plan to have some intake and exhaust porting work done, install a mild street cam, and hope to convert to Weber 40's and use a different, more open exhaust header than the original cast iron one. In short, I'd like to match the gearbox as best as I can to the output of the engine.
Many thanks,
Hymodyne
