Bugeye negative ground picture?

Hello,
I am still at it with the wiring as I get free time. Is there someone with a negatively grounded Bugeye that could send me a picture of the engine bay area showing the battery and where the wire cables are hooked up? Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Bugeye negative ground picture?

Kevin,
Here are pics of my BE. I used the helmet type battery connectors which are used on the original car and available from British Wiring. The battery cable are not made up and one must buy the cable and ends separately and butane torch them on with solder. Originally the brown wire, which is the main feed for the car, was connected to a special helmet which had a hole that was filled with solder and the end of the brown wire. I lengthened the brown wire, covered it with shrink tubing and connected it to the starter solenoid. It is hard to see in the pics, but the ground wire on the driver's side screws to a 1/4-28 bolt into the firewall.

Re: Bugeye negative ground picture?

This really isn't terribly complicated. "Negative ground" just means that the negative pole of the battery goes to the chassis, and the positive to the rest of the electrical system. All else remains the same.

If you are converting from positive ground, there are a couple of things to be careful of. These are well documented, plenty of info on the web. The tachometer might need modification, and of course you need to "flash" the generator. (No, not that way!) None of this is terribly difficult.

Have fun!
